Fees & Payouts
Version 1, last updated Sep 15, 2026
This page explains in plain language how you earn on Nmjoy, when you are paid, and what can reduce a payout. It is a reference: the Seller Agreement sets the binding terms, and where the two differ the Seller Agreement applies.
1. How you earn
Every paid order is worked out in the same order of steps:
- Start with the gross price the buyer paid. When they used a coupon, yours or ours, that is the price after it: the coupon's reduction is yours, and we fund none of it.
- Remove GST. Because we are the merchant of record we collect goods and services tax from the buyer where it applies and pay it to the tax authority. It is never part of your earnings.
- Apply the commission at the rate shown in your seller dashboard.
- What remains is your earnings for that order, in rupees.
Worked example at the current 9% commission rate (the rate that applies to you is always the one in your dashboard):
A buyer pays ₹1,000.00 for a product, excluding any GST. Commission at 9% is ₹90.00. Your earnings on the order are ₹910.00.
2. Commission
Your commission rate is shown in your seller dashboard. The rate applied to an order is the rate in force at the moment the order is paid. It is recorded on that order at that moment and never changes afterwards, even if the dashboard rate changes later. If we change the rate we will tell you in advance, as the Seller Agreement describes.
3. Hold period
Earnings from a sale become available 30 days after the sale. The hold exists so that a refund or chargeback on that sale can be settled against the earnings from it rather than from your later sales. We may hold earnings for longer while a chargeback is open, while we investigate a report, or where your refund or chargeback rate is materially higher than the marketplace as a whole. We will tell you when a longer hold applies.
4. Minimum payout
We pay out once your available balance reaches ₹1,000.00. A balance below that carries forward and is paid when it reaches the minimum.
5. Payout schedule and provider
Payouts run monthly, on the 1st of each month (Indian Standard Time). They are sent through a third-party payout provider to the bank account, UPI id or crypto wallet you have registered. Some providers keep your payout details themselves; for the others we store them encrypted and use them only to send your payouts. The provider's own processing time applies from the moment we hand the payout to it, so the money can take a few days to arrive after the payout date.
Keep your payout recipient details accurate. We cannot recover money sent to a recipient you registered incorrectly.
6. Chargeback and refund reversals
If an order is refunded or charged back, the earnings from that order are reversed in your ledger. If the earnings were still on hold, the reversal simply cancels them. If they had already been paid to you, the reversal is deducted from your future earnings, and if your balance cannot cover it the difference remains owing.
Where a chargeback is raised we contest it on your behalf where it is reasonable to do so. We may deduct a chargeback fee equal to the fee our payment provider actually charges us for that chargeback. We do not add any fee of our own.
7. Payout provider fees
Earnings and payouts are worked out in rupees. A payout to a crypto wallet is converted to the coin at the payout provider's rate when it is sent, rounded down to the precision the provider accepts. Any transfer fee charged by the payout provider is borne by you and is shown by the provider on the transfer. We do not add a payout fee of our own.
8. Tax
We do not currently deduct tax from payouts. If a law requires us to withhold or report anything about your earnings in future, we will tell you before it applies.
You remain responsible for your own income tax and for any GST registration your own turnover requires. We do not ask you for a PAN or GSTIN; the only details we hold about you are your name, your email address and your payout details.
9. Statements and disputing a figure
Each payout comes with a statement in your seller dashboard listing the orders, reversals and deductions it covers. If you think a figure is wrong, email sellers@nmjoy.com within 30 days of the statement being issued and tell us which order or line you are questioning. After 30 days a statement is treated as accepted, except where the law does not allow that.
10. Dormant balances
If you have a balance but no valid payout recipient registered for 24 months, we will email you, and email you again if we hear nothing. If a further 90 days pass without a valid recipient being registered, we may treat the balance as unclaimed and deal with it as applicable law requires. Where the law allows, we will still pay it to you when you ask.
11. Store site and custom domain
Your store always sells on its page in the Nmjoy marketplace at no charge. Its own site is a paid plan, one of two:
- Store site, ₹199 a month: your store served at its Nmjoy subdomain.
- Custom domain, ₹599 a month: your store served on a domain you own, with the Nmjoy subdomain included.
Each price is the whole amount charged. You subscribe from the Domain page of your seller dashboard, and it is charged to the payment method you authorise there; it is never deducted from your earnings. A plan renews automatically each month until you cancel. Switching to the other plan stops the one you had at the end of the month you have paid for.
You can cancel at any time. No further charges are taken, your site stays on until the end of the month you have paid for, and we do not refund part of a month. If a renewal is still unpaid 7 days after it falls due, or once a month you have cancelled ends, your store's own site goes off (and a custom domain is disconnected); your store keeps selling on its marketplace page, and you can subscribe again later.
